Little Mermaid show a mesmerising affair

If you are looking for something to do with the kids this school holidays then this is the perfect activity.

The audience for the opening show were totally mesmerised from the very strong opening scene right through to the final number.

The basic but hugely effective set design takes you ‘Under the Sea’ to the wonderful world of the merpeople, with creatures big and small, in costumes that were visually stunning, in fact some blew me away.

Sebastian, played by Brooklyn Saunders, was a standout performer on the stage, who was animated the entire show and channelled her inner crustacean very well.

Stella Stevens played a strong and confident Ursula, while Becky Davies played the soft and gentle princess Ariel perfectly and her singing was beautiful. Mathew Edgar played a kind and caring Prince Eric.

The audience were in fits of laughter while Chef Louis, played by Liam Brennan was preparing the feast.

A special mention must go to Tobias Young whose lovable Flounder was just the perfect mix of cluelessness and naivety.

A few technical issues with sound and screen in the first show, but I am sure these will be ironed out.

Director Jess Lively should be proud of her cast and crew for creating a professional show with such a young group of talented performers.

A huge well done to everyone involved in this production.
